Crisis Core chapter 6
Chapter 6
Zack gasped, eyes widened and jaw dropped, speechless. What could...? Who could've...? Who could've killed Angeal's mother...? He whipped his head around to see Angeal leaning on the wall behind him, looking at his mother and Zack, not saying a word. Zack looked down and saw the Buster Sword in Angeal's hand.
All of Zack's muscles tensed as he faced Angeal, looking into his eyes with heated fury as he realized what Angeal had done. He grabbed Angeal by his shirt and shoved him against the wall as hard as he could. "What the hell did you do, Angeal!?" he shouted. He slammed Angeal into the wall again, then punched him in the face, knocking him through the doorway and onto the ground outside. Zack stood in the doorway, looking down at him, shaking with anger. "Is that...is that your idea of honor!?"
"My mother..." Angeal grunted, standing up. "...could not continue to live. And neither can the son."
"What are you talking about?!" Zack yelled, confused and angry. "What's going on here?!"
"I told you..." came Genesis's voice as he walked into view. "You can't live on that side anymore." He leaned with one arm on the house, right beside Zack.
Angeal directed his gaze away from Genesis and Zack, then put his sword on his back, walking away.
"Angeal!" Zack shouted. As he started to run forward, Genesis put his foot out in front of Zack's legs, making him fall to the ground. "Angeal!" he shouted again, then punched the ground in anger as he watched Angeal continue walking, not looking back.
Genesis stepped towards Zack. "'My friend, do you fly away now To a world that abhors you and I?--"
"Shut up!" Zack snapped.
"'All that awaits you--'"
"Shut up! I'm warning you!!"
"'--is a somber morrow, Wherever the winds may blow.'" Genesis held up an orb of Materia in his left hand and Zack started to get off of the ground, realizing that the Materia was Summon Materia. "I don't see Sephiroth today, but are you game?"
In a flash of light, the Materia transformed into a large, fierce dragon, and Genesis was nowhere in sight.
"A Summon! So that's how it is, huh?" Zack shouted, hoping Genesis would hear, wherever he was.
Zack grabbed his sword and dashed towards the dragon. "I don't have time for this!!"
When the dragon was finally defeated, Zack ran back to the hill where Tseng would retrieve him with the helicopter, still seething with rage, but knowing that the airstrike would start soon so he had to get moving. As he neared the designated hill, he spotted Genesis on top of it. Zack walked up to Genesis, still angry at him. "Summons aren't meant to be used like that!" Zack shouted. "What happened to dreams and honor!?"
Genesis, with his back turned to Zack, looked downward. "We are..." he said softly. "Monsters." He drew in one arm close to his body, then extended it quickly to the side. With it, he extended a single black wing from underneath his red jacket.
Zack stared wide eyed at Genesis. The last word Genesis had said resonated in his head. 'Monsters.'
"We have neither dreams, nor honor." he continued, a pained tinge to his voice. In a flash, Genesis took to the sky, disappearing from sight, leaving only black feathers raining down.
Zack looked up in awe. He held out his hand and a single inky-black feather landed gracefully in his hand. He clenched his fist around it. "SOLDIER..." He looked to the sky. "...Doesn't mean monster..."
Several loud booms indicated that the airstrike had started. Zack watched as the village--Angeal's hometown--was being incinerated. All of the homes, Angeal's house, the Banora White trees, everything Zack could see, gone. Zack clenched his fists tighter, upset to see this horrible sight. "Angeal..."
Behind him, Tseng arrived with the helicopter, the air from the blades blowing his hair is his face. He turned around to see Tseng in the door of the helicopter, waiting. Zack took one last look of Banora and walked to the helicopter, ready to just forget that this mission had ever happened.
