Animal Testing

Imagine a litter of puppies are born into the world, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. They are ready to face the world ahead of them, but these young animals won’t lead normal lives. These young puppies were born in a laboratory, for a company that tries to genetically alter DNA. Test subject number one: the newborns. This is the case for over 70 million animals a year in the United States alone. Companies should not be able to test products on animals because it is inhumane, it causes illness and disease in tested animal’s offspring, and it causes species numbers to dwindle or become endangered.

Companies should not be able to test products on animals because it is inhumane. It inflicts pain onto innocent, unsuspecting animals, and it could even kill them. According to www.animaltestingfacts.zoomshare.com, 70 million animals are maimed, blinded, scalded, force-fed chemicals, genetically manipulated, and otherwise hurt and killed “in the name of science” each year. It goes against nature to slowly torture these poor animals until they are begging for death to end the pain and fear they are feeling. Would we do this to humans? Of course we would not! Then why do it to the poor, defenseless animals?

Another reason companies should not test products on animals, is because it causes illness and disease in the tested animal’s offspring. The chemicals or tests that affect these poor creatures, also affect their children. The parents that suffered testing may have had their DNA warped, causing the DNA to be different in the offspring as well. The infected offspring go and have their own children and as they continue to procreate, the species will be become infected. This happens because many traits can be linked directly to a specific genetic variant or mutation in DNA. These variants can be passed from parent to child.

Also, companies should not be able to test products on animals because it causes species numbers to dwindle or become endangered. Animals in cages cannot reproduce, they are entirely alone. When the animal in the cage dies, the company has not only taken one life, but the million possible lives it could have made. Of course, when they run out of animals what do they do? Go get more of the same species! This pattern is repeated and repeated until the species ends up on the endangered lists and the activists finally stand in the way. One example is the Chimpanzee, who, along with several other primates, suffered testing. They are now dangerously close to extinction. We need to strive to protect all animal species. We could lose them forever, and the fault would be ours.

In conclusion, I believe that companies should not be able to test on animals because it is inhumane, it causes illness and disease in tested animals offspring, and it causes species to dwindle or become endangered. If we don’t do something now, we may lose our animals forever. Most companies have their internet or email address listed by their 800 number. Write or call to these companies and inform them that you refuse to buy their products until they stop testing on animals. Hurry, the young litter may still have time.

Did you cry? Was it sarah Maglocklyn worthy? (soooo did not spell her name right)
